Reports say New York Giants wide receiver Plaxico Burress has been accidentally shot in the leg at a nightclub.

ESPN.com and Fox Sports.com said Saturday the wound was not life threatening. It was not clear at what club the shooting took place. The Fox Web site said Burress spent the night in the hospital.

The Giants would not confirm the accident to The Associated Press. Phones calls to Burress’ home and agent were not immediately returned.

Burress injured a hamstring two weeks ago against the Baltimore Ravens. The Giants said Friday he would not play Sunday against the Redskins in Washington.

Majestic MLB replica jerseys and MLB fitted caps are thought to be two of the most favored MLB merchandise. Every sports fan has at least one team uniform in his popular sports memorabilia collection. Fans buy jerseys for different reasons. Some buy replica uniforms for investment purposes but quite a few buy them to wear to games or to play some ball with their mates. It matters not if they are NFL replica jerseys or jerseys from other leagues, they should be be handled with care so that they can remain in good condition for as long as possible.

For reasons still unknown to mankind, men do not do two things. The first is stopping to ask for directions. The second is looking for care labels before throwing their jerseys into the machine. This is a fundamental mistake.

The very first thing you should do is look for care labels before washing your replica uniforms. The care labels are often found on the inside of the jersey’s neck seam or collar. Others can be found at the apparels side seams. However, the are care labels which are attached to hand tags that are not fixed to the jerseys so keep in mind to examine the contents of the package your jersey came in before you throw it away.

Obviously merchandise like NFL replica jerseys are more easily damaged than say NFL football helmets or novelty lanyards. So added care should be taken when cleaning them. As stated before, always look for care instructions. It would include information on wash methods, water temperature, detergent use, drying methods and other instructions. The next thing to do is follow the instructions to the letter.

What should you do if your favorite Majestic MLB replica jerseys did not come with care instructions? Fret not. Here are some simple tips you can try.

Wash jerseys as soon as you reach home. Leaving the replica team jerseys till the next morning will cause wet and soiled jerseys to smell and develop stains.

Before washing those jerseys, pin point the stains and pretreat them. If you are out of stain removers then try some baking soda.

Turn jerseys inside out and seek out any loose threads. Cut or burn them to prevent them unraveling even further when washing.

Soak first in cold water to keep stains from setting.

Bear in mind not to wash white jerseys with colored fabric and vice versa just in case the colors run.

It is recommended that you hand wash your team jerseys so they last longer.

After the washing procedure is completed, properly hang or line dry. Newer jerseys are no longer made of cotton so they should not wrinkle or go out of shape and they are designed to dry quickly.

Be sure to dry them inside out to keep the colors looking fresh.

One final suggestion, if you decide to iron your jerseys, be sure to avoid ironing the logos and numbers.

There are a number of non sports fans the world over who regard sports memorabilia as an utter waste of money and space, and an insult to the senses to boot. In any case, sports fans would disagree unyieldingly. There are a myriad of sports memorabilia out there apart from the more popular sports merchandise such as NFL football helmets or NHL hockey jerseys. And many are unexpectedly useful too.

Men are usually the main offenders when it comes to taking it to the extreme with their popular sports memorabilia collection. Wives and companions of such supporters have had to endure the slow but sure relinquishment of the living room and den area every time a new MLB, NHL, NFL or NBA season gets going.

The only types of paraphernalia that used to adorn the walls of bedrooms and living rooms were team banners, framed team uniforms and miniature or authentic collectors fitted caps.

But not all is lost. There are actually many useful sports merchandise out there that do more than only use up space.

Neighbors will now know which team a person supports even before they go in the house, with the aid of a door mat with the team logo on it. Looking at the door, they might see another hint in the guise of a team item door knocker.

Team logo merchandise such as clocks, hanging lamps, fireplace screens and bean bags are now easily found in many living rooms of sports fans.

Logo memorabilia such as chopping boards, plate sets, and of course the ever popular die cut refrigerator magnets are now used often in the modern kitchen.

These items no longer incorporate loud design language that scream out the team name a person supports. They have been subtly designed to blend right in with the rest of the items of the den. Most of the time the team name is only displayed in just a single color or the team logo is restricted to a certain size.

For those who are techies, there are even team merchandise LCD monitors and mobile phone covers. What will they think of next?

Actually, there are still various everyday items that could still be turned into useful team logo collectables. Think about what you use everyday and or what item you would like to see your favorite team’s emblem on. Team logo wallpaper for the children’s room would be ideal to help give junior a head start at supporting daddy’s favorite team. General household team logo merchandise could include soap on a rope, shaving cartridges and even shower curtains. Maybe one fine day, one of your fresh ideas might end up being an official NHL merchandise. The possibilities are limitless.
